HOW TO STAY SAFE WHILE USING A COMPUTER

Computer itself is not dangerous but not knowing how to stay safe while using a computer is. In other to stay safe whether you are a short time user or a long time user, you must avoid setting acts that may cause damage to your health and learn how to be comfortable while using the device.
Let’s look at some of the physiological principles that should be associated to using a computer.
  • Adjust the brightness of the computer screen to suit your optical view. This will help you avoid vision problem(s).
  • Keep and maintain a good viewing distance from the computer screen.
  • Have your computer screen cleaned/wiped before use.
  • Make use of photochromic or recommended glasses by an optician if you already have vision problems.
  • Avoid static position and try to move away or give yourself/your eyes a break from the computer sometimes.
  • Engage in stretching exercises during break.
  • Avoid excessive neck rotation.
  • Support your feet with footrest if necessary.
  • Ensure there is never excessive strain on your back muscles, hips and legs.
  • Keep your wrist straight while using the keyboard.
  • Place keyboard at comfortable elbow height during use.
  • If you are the type that like placing laptop directly on your laps, do get a laptop stand to prevent the heat it produces from causing physical harm to your laps.
